Polished Concrete Condo Floor – Indianapolis, Indiana

When ripping up a floor covering whether it is carpet, hardwood or tile you never really know what you might find underneath. In this condo the owners found a concrete floor that was covered in glue, grout, and floor leveling compound.  Their home is in a building that initially served as a school located in heart of the diverse and vibrant Broad Ripple Village. Once the school had moved and the building lay empty, a local developer had the idea to transform this space into separate condos.

We were called in to take the existing surface and transform it by polishing the concrete floor. Rather than cover the surface we were going to embrace the history and character of the concrete.

Here is a before picture of the space. It may be hard to imagine that being a finished surface.

Before picture of the kitchen. Just worked up a sweat scraping up old leveling compound.

These hallways with terrazzo floors remind me of my own grade school days....

Our concrete grinder removes the glue from the surface and exposes the underlying concrete. Do you notice no dust in the air?

After initial grinding all holes and cracks are patched. Here you can see we are grinding them smooth.

That red hose runs to a HEPA filtered vacuum that allows us to complete concrete work in occupied spaces with no large amount of dust.

Finished floor has been polished and sealed. Notice the reflection of the lights on the surface? Room is now ready to be finished.
